Created as part of the GMTK Game Jam 2024.  Theme: Built to Scale.

Note: This game is not eligible for consideration to be highlighted by the GMTK channel. More details at the bottom of this page.

Instructions

  1. Select your weight class.
  2. Keep an eye on your starting weight. It will be determined based on your selected weight class. The higher the class, the greater the difficulty.
  3. Food will fall from the heavens. They are a mix of healthy and unhealthy foods. Each type of food will increase your weight differently.
  4. Start eating. Use A/D or ← /→ to move your character. Your character is hungry enough to eat the food automatically. Watch your weight and be careful not to overeat!

Good luck!

AI Self-Declaration: This game is not eligible to be highlighted by GMTK, as I have used ChatGPT to assist with the game's code. While the game's design is my own (i.e. I have not asked ChatGPT to "build me a game based on the built to scale theme"), I did require some assistance to implement the design, as I am still in the early days of my gamedev journey.

Apart from the code, I have not used any other AI tools for this game. All assets were created by humans, who generously allowed for these assets to be used by everyone, as listed above.

The motivation for the game's concept came from the recently concluded Paris Olympics, where a wrestler was disqualified from a gold medal match for being 100gm over the weight class.  Unlike this game however, the issue there was not overeating, but something more complex. You can read more about that here.
